As a government technology contractor with roots in AT&T’s Bell Labs, LGS is all about solving problems. It looks for employees who are motivated by creative problem-solving, “getting to the left of the solution,” as chief executive Kevin Kelly puts it. In keeping employees satisfied, Kelly talks about “feeding the geek”: finding what individual employees are passionate about and feeding that interest over time. Commitment to the company’s broader mission follows from there, Kelly says. “Everybody from the chairman of the company downward is intensely focused on the mission and solving our government’s problems,” he said.
