LGS Innovations has completed an upgrade of the Main Communications Facility (MCF) at the U.S. Army’s Camp Arifjan in Kuwait. The MCF is the C4 operations center and information systems hub for Southwest Asia.

The MCF features 9,000 square feet of usable equipment room space and is capable of multiplexing and de-multiplexing circuits transported over copper, fiber, satellite or terrestrial line-of-sight radios, according to an LGS news release.

The MCF will be the core of the Joint Information Environment (JIE), scheduled for full capability between 2016 and 2020, for U.S. Central Command. “Camp Arifjan is used as a logistics base for the entire Southwest Asian theater, so it was imperative that the facility expanded to meet the need for increased information exchange,” said Jeff Fischer, LGS’s technical manager for MCF. “It is also a significant step forward toward realizing the JIE, which will enable all DoD personnel to securely and reliably access the network from any approved device no matter where they are.”
