Herndon VA, Oct. 27 2015 — Kevin Kelly, Chief Executive Officer of LGS Innovations, will be inducted into the George Washington University Engineering Hall of Fame at a ceremony to be held in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, Oct. 22. The GW Engineering Hall of Fame program was established in 2006 to recognize distinguished GW alumni and others who have contributed to engineering, technology, or management in a sustained and significant way during their careers.
As CEO of LGS Innovations, Mr. Kelly oversees the development and implementation of the company’s strategy, maintaining its strong commitment to research, technology, and industry leadership. His vision for engineering in telecommunications and networking drives the delivery of unique LGS Innovations solutions to government and commercial customers worldwide.
“We’re very pleased to induct Kevin Kelly into the GW Engineering Hall of Fame,” said Dr. David Dolling, dean of the George Washington University School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS). “Our faculty members are understandably proud of the quality of our graduates, and we’re especially proud when they excel professionally and distinguish themselves as leaders and innovators in their fields, as Kevin has done. His accomplishments truly merit the honor of being named to the GW Engineering Hall of Fame.”
Previous Hall of Fame inductees include corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, members of the National Academy of Engineering, an Oscar winner, a former astronaut, a former Member of Congress, and the youngest person to be named a Fellow of the IEEE.
Prior to being appointed CEO of LGS Innovations in 2012, Mr. Kelly served as the company’s Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Strategy. In these roles, he oversaw the company’s foundation as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alcatel-Lucent in 2007, and eventually led the effort to have the company acquired by Madison Dearborn Partners, an investment firm based in Chicago, Illinois, and CoVant, a holding company based in the Washington, D.C. metro area, in 2014.
Mr. Kelly has also held senior positions within General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems (GD-AIS) and Lockheed Martin. He earned an M.S. degree in Engineering Management from GWU in 1997, and served as Commencement speaker at the GW SEAS graduation ceremony in May, 2014.
Mr. Kelly is a strong champion of education programs in Science, Technology Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), and has continued to mentor college and graduate students throughout his career.
