Today John Gilroy interviews Kevin Kelly, CEO of LGS Innovations on Federal News Radio. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Alcatel-Lucent and Kevin provides many insights on applying creative solutions to federal information technology problems.

Alcatel-Lucent is the parent company of Bell Laboratories. The world famous labs have over 33,000 patents and 11 Nobel Prize winners since 1925. In 2006 it established LGS Innovations by taking the part of Bell Labs that was dedicated to US Government work and put them in the LGS subsidiary. Out of approximately 700 employees at LGS Innovation, about half work on pure research and development and the other half work on applying this innovation to projects that will benefit the federal government. Today, LGS has a track record of solving complex military communication problems and now hope to apply that savvy to civilian agencies.
