LGS Innovations Wins Communications Infrastructure Upgrade for Army
Herndon, Virginia, February 14, 2011. LGS, a subsidiary of Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE: ALU and Euronext Paris) dedicated to serving the U.S. Federal Government community, was awarded a $22.2 million delivery order from the United States Department of the Army. LGS will provide network installation and integration and professional services for a communications infrastructure upgrade at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama. The delivery order has a total potential value of $22.4 million if all options are exercised.
The award is under the Infrastructure Modernization (IMOD) contract and supports the Installation Information Modernization Program (I3MP) managed by the I3MP Project Management Office at Fort Monmouth, N.J. I3MP upgrades and modernizes core data backbone and telecommunications infrastructure at Army installations worldwide. LGS will perform work necessary to engineer, furnish, install, secure, test, document, migrate, and cutover a turn-key solution to upgrade the existing I3MP infrastructure and facilities at Redstone Arsenal. Redstone is at the heart of the Army's rocket and missile programs. The communications upgrade will benefit Redstone’s population of over 175,000. Redstone Arsenal spans 37,910 acres and 11.7 million square feet of building space.
