Dr. Lee Buchanan
Dr. Lee Buchanan had a significant career with the U.S. Federal Government prior to his work in the private sector. He served as Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Research, Development and Acquisition), the most senior executive for research, development and acquisition for the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine Corps. Prior to that appointment, he was the Deputy Director and Acting Director of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA); Senior Research Physicist at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory; and a Naval Aviator.
Currently, Dr. Buchanan is Venture Partner, Paladin Capital Group in Washington, D.C. Paladin is a leading multi-stage private equity firm providing capital for growing companies whose principal business centers on products and services that address homeland security issues and needs. Paladin has more than $980 million under management across multiple funds and 35 portfolio companies. In addition to LGS Innovations, Dr. Buchanan is also a Director of TestMart, Corp. and Advantage Federal, Corp.
Prior to Paladin, Dr. Buchanan was Vice President, Advanced Concepts, EDO Corporation, a $1 billion producer of intelligence, electronic warfare, sonar, and weapons systems for the U.S. military; Executive Vice President of Perceptis, a holding company for producers of wireless data collection and intelligence systems; President and CEO of QualStream, a company engaged in the development of adaptable bandwidth and video streaming services for public and private networks; and Division Manager for Titan Corporation.
He has a B.S. and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University, and a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the University of California.
